Causeway Bay Heritage Fun Day<\/h4>\n \n

\n Causeway Bay Heritage Fun Day\r\nCauseway Bay Heritage Fun Day is the second phase of the Causeway Bay History and Heritage Series organized by the Po Leung Kuk Museum. On the day of the event, registered visitors can join guided tours, interactive workshops, themed video screenings, and cultural experiences (some activities require separate registration), offering the public a deeper understanding of community history, culture, and heritage conservation. Shuttle buses will be provided for registered participants, connecting four key heritage sites in Causeway Bay. To ensure the best visiting experience, please register in advance for entry to the Main Building. Admission will be granted upon presentation of the confirmation email. The Po Leung Kuk Main Building (Grade I Historic Building)<\/h4>\n
\n

\n The Po Leung Kuk Main Building was designed by Mr. IU Tak-chung, one of the earliest Chinese modern architects in Hong Kong and former directors of Po Leung Kuk. Completed in 1932, the building is built in Neo-Classical architectural style. The dome on top symolises power and public authority, echoing with the broad public acceptance and support enjoyed by Po Leung Kuk. In 1950s, a portico was constructed to the main entrance for sheltering people from the elements. The architectural concept can be traced back to Ancient Rome and was often found in designs of temples and public buildings. The columns are modelled after western classical architectural features, but also feature inscribed couplets from Chinese culture. The building is one of Mr. IU\u2019s final designs, yet has been the home of destitute women and children. It is also the Headquarters where important decisions are made, and charity traditions are carried forward by directors and fellows. Located in Causeway Bay, the Main Building has been a testament to the development of Kuk\u2019s work in the district.\r\n\r\nThe Po Leung Kuk Main Building was officially regraded from a “Grade 2 Historic Building” to a “Grade 1 Historic Building” during the Antiquities Advisory Board meeting in December, 2023. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n <\/div>\n

\u25c8 Shuttle buses will run between four major historic sites in Causeway Bay on the event day, available to registered participants.
\n\u25c8 Participation is free of charge. Places will be allocated by lottery. The public is welcome to register.

\u203b Workshop places are limited. Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email by October 26. On the event day, visitors with a workshop confirmation email only need to present the email for entry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n\n \n
